Aquariums 5-8 mm

Zeolite is excellent for physical and chemical filtration of aquarium water. As a physical filter material, it performs the task of filter sand, but due to its ion exchange properties, it is also suitable for binding ammonium ions in water.

Zeolite can be placed at the bottom of the aquarium – although in this case it will be difficult to clean, replace or regenerate it – or in the external filter of the aquarium. When placed in an external filter, zeolite is easy to clean, due to its replaceability.

For aquarium use, zeolite with a grain size of 5-8 mm is recommended.

Regeneration of zeolite: over time, zeolite becomes saturated due to the binding of undesirable substances, it can no longer perform its task. In this case, it is advisable to replace or regenerate the zeolite. Regeneration should be carried out by removing the zeolite from the filter into a crate and then thawing the crate with water in such a way that the water completely covers the zeolite. Then sprinkle table salt equal to 10% of the water lowered into the bowl (1 kg per 10 litres of water). As a result of the salt content, the zeolite starts "ion exchange" again, and after a few days of standing, ion exchange takes place in the zeolite in the brine, thereby regenerating. After regeneration, water can be drained from the zeolite. Subsequently, the zeolite should be rinsed several times to avoid the return of the brine to the pool water. The washed, reclaimed zeolite can be put back and ready for reuse. After regeneration, do not pour the brine onto the grass or soil, but wash it into the drain with plenty of water.
