Kaoline

Kaoline, also known as porcelain earth, is an aluminosilicate, clay mineral whose main mineral component is kaolinite. In terms of origin, it is feldspar of igneous rocks. All kaoline is clay, but not all clay is kaoline.

According to records, the use of kaoline can be deduced from the description of certain ceramics in China in the seventh century, and the Chinese Song dynasty is famous for its porcelain. It got its name from the Chinese mountain called kaolin, where kaoline, which serves as the raw material for porcelain, was quarried already in the fourteenth century, and after firing, it was used to make porcelain with the thin thickness of "eggshell" (Emperor Yung Lo).

Kaoline is mainly used in the porcelain, ceramics, paint, paper and food industries.
