Lime products

The raw material of hydrated lime, slaked lime pulp, unslaked lime and limefeed is the limestone itself (or calcium carbonate – CaCO3), which is found in very large quantities on our planet. This limestone can be obtained by various processes as limestone flour, limefeed, unslaked lime, slaked lime pulp or lime hydrate.

Limestone is mostly sedimentary rock with a mineral composition of calcite or aragonite. Lime is any rock of which calcium carbonate is at least 90%. Its color is primarily determined by the composition of the chemicals contained in it, so it can be white, yellow, brown, red, gray or blackish.

Processing lime: mining, grinding and grading, burning, slaking.

Limestone – in case of high whiteness – is used in construction, but it is also used in asphalt production. Further apply feed industry to supply calcium to the organism of livestock and farm animals.

If limestone is heated to a high temperature, burnt – or unquenched – lime is obtained. Incineration is necessary to remove carbon dioxide from calcium carbonate. The resulting product calcium oxide (CaO, better known as unslaked lime or burnt lime). In the order of magnitude, one part of unslaked lime is produced by releasing one part of carbon dioxide.

From unslaked lime, water is added to form slaked lime, differentiated by the amount of water added, as follows:

  • If just enough water is added to the rennet so that the lime remains in a powdery state, white lime slaked into powder, also known as white lime or hydrated lime is formed.
  • If inoculation takes place with a large amount of water, slaked lime pulp is obtained. From such lime pulp we produce at our site the Stable milk of limeproduct.
