De-icing

We divide the products we offer into three groups:

  1. Mechanical anti-slip (SikoSTOP® zeolite), which helps us to move on ice, because it provides traction when scatter on the ice, embedded in the ice.
  2. Mechanical anti-slip mixed with ice melting agent (SikoSTOP® EKO+), which, in addition to mechanical anti-slip, melts ice. This type of product has a complex effect.
  3. Ice melting agent (WinterSun, CALCIUM CHLORIDE), which does not provide mechanical anti-slip, melts only ice. This type of product is completely dissolved, so after melting there will not be any "residual substances" in the scattered area.

When developing the SikoSTOP® product family, the primary goal was to offer not only a product, but also a solution to the interested party. Accordingly, we selected the active ingredients, the recipes and the breeding process of zeolite with active ingredients.

When choosing an ice melting agent mixed with zeolite, knowledge of the process of ice melting was a consideration. The dissolution of the active ingredients of SikoSTOP® EKO+ solid ice melter involves a thermal reaction. Due to the dissolution of the ice melting substance, the melting of ice is accelerated. After dissolution, the freezing point of the active substance, which is already miscible with water, will be lower than the freezing point of water. The mixture formed from the icemelting agent and water is continuously diluted as rain or snow dilutes it, until the concentration of the active ingredient in the mixture becomes so low that it freezes back at the same temperature as the water. The higher the active ingredient content of the mixture, the lower its freezing point. All ice melting agents have the lowest freezing temperature associated with the highest concentration. Of course, this does not mean that the active ingredient content of the mixture should be raised to the highest possible level, as this may damage the coating or the environment.
